WHAT DOES JESUS MEAN TO YOU?

There is a song in our song book entitled “JESUS IS ALL THE WORLD TO ME.” The song says that Jesus is MY LIFE, MY JOY, MY ALL. We sing this song to one another, and to God, but what does it mean to you? “Jesus is all the world to me.” Jesus created this world for you and me. He created it for us to enjoy, sustain our lives and prepare us for the life to come. But Jesus is MORE than the things contained in this world. The creation CANNOT be greater than the Creator. Jesus is all the world to me and more.

JESUS IS MY LIFE. “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. (Galatians 2:20). The life I now live is by the grace of God and Jesus Christ and the life that I will enjoy in the future is by the love of Jesus Christ. So I will present my body, my life, a living sacrifice for my friend Jesus.

JESUS IS MY JOY. Paul said in Philippians 3:8, “Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.” I tell you my joy is not in the things of this world but in Jesus. My joy is not in how much money I make, or how many things I possess. It is not in selfish pride, or vanity. Those things have and will let me down. But Jesus never lets me down. He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4).

JESUS IS MY ALL. Jesus gives me life as he gives me a world to live on. He has prepared a home for me in heaven. And He has provided me the way to get there.

“Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:22-24). Yes, I dedicate both my spirit and body, my all to Jesus!

TELL ME WHAT JESUS MEANS TO YOU – but telling is not enough; SHOW ME WHAT JESUS MEANS TO YOU.

JESUS

The name Jesus tells us why he came. Jesus simply means “SAVIOR.”  The angel of the Lord told Joseph, “… do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call his name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:20-21). How thankful are we that Jesus left heaven and came to earth to save us. Notice these others passage that stress the most important fact of history.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!  (John 1:29)

. . . for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”  (Luke 19:10)

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. (1 Timothy 1:15)

… who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)

And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.  (Revelation 1:5)

It’s no wonder that Paul exclaimed in 2 Corinthians 9:15, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.  The gift of Jesus for the sins of the world is so meaningful and wonderful that it cannot be adequately described by words. Do you feel the same way Paul did? Do you thank God often for the gifts of his Son?

When you hear the name Jesus, remember that it means, “Savior.” Jesus is special because he came to save you.
