HE HAS MADE OF ONE BLOOD EVERY NATION
Acts 17:26-27 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; NKJV As Paul preached to those in Athens concerning the one God, he had a high...Continue reading "HE HAS MADE OF ONE BLOOD EVERY NATION"
FISHERS OF MEN
Matt 4:18-20 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." 20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him. NKJV There is no greater privilege in the world than to teach someone else the gospel of Jesus Christ, and watch as God’s word changes...Continue reading "FISHERS OF MEN"
A FEW REFLECTIONS ON OUR MEETING (2)
(Last week, due to technical difficulties beyond our control, the article was cut off in our paper bulletin. Here is the rest of that article and a few more reflections.) Beginning on August 23 (a Thursday evening) the South Cobb church will once again host the Fishers of Men Training Course. This will be a thirteen week series of lessons on Thursday evenings, with each evening session lasting about two hours. The purpose is to train members of the church...Continue reading "A FEW REFLECTIONS ON OUR MEETING (2)"
A FEW REFLECTIONS ON OUR MEETING
Isaiah 55:6-11 6 Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. 8 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD. 9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth,...Continue reading "A FEW REFLECTIONS ON OUR MEETING"
VISITING THE GRAVEYARD
How long has it been since you visited a graveyard? We go there on occasion for a funeral or to visit the grave sight of a parent, yet we never go there to have something to do or just out of curiosity. The same reason some do not visit the graveyard may be the same reason some do not visit our churches. It may be too much like a graveyard – FULL OF THE DEAD. Have we been “holding services?”...Continue reading "VISITING THE GRAVEYARD"
WHAT SOME WON’T DO
Recently I read a magazine called OUTREACH, in which ideas, thoughts and programs to help “build” or “grow a church” numerically are presented. I will be honest – I was (am) looking for ideas that will help the church at South Cobb to grow. But it amazed me to what extent some would go to “grow a church.” Among the ideas presented: A mud football game. Two or three days before the event, a field is soaked with water and...Continue reading "WHAT SOME WON’T DO"
The Silencing of God Seminar
On September 12-16 Dave Miller will conduct our progressive meeting with South Cobb, North Cobb, Woodstock, Piedmont Road, Central and Macland Road. Below is the brochure that Brother Miller sent to advertise the meeting: The United States of America is undergoing swift transition as the liberal forces of political correctness and an unrestrained judiciary wage a vociferous culture war. Their objective: to expunge every manifestation of God, Christ and the Bible from American life. But Americas intimate connection to Christianity...Continue reading "The Silencing of God Seminar"
North Georgia State Fair
This has been a busy summer for many of us, and it is slowly beginning to wind down. As far as I can tell from my calendar, I have finished my obligations of Summer Series, and will be at our Summer Series for the rest of this year. However, we still have our Vacation Bible School coming up next week, and then school will begin on August 9th. Shortly thereafter, we will have our cooperative meeting, and then we sponsor...Continue reading "North Georgia State Fair"
100 Baptisms a Year?
100 Baptisms a Year? Is it possible? Can it really happen? YES! For three consecutive years, the Snellville Church of Christ in Snellville, GA had 90 - 115 baptisms per year. How did they do it? Simply put, they took the Great Commission seriously and did what they could to spread the gospel to their community. They understood that all have a part in the Great Commission, and that some may water, some may plant, but it is God that...Continue reading "100 Baptisms a Year?"
The Gospel Meeting
Many years ago gospel meetings were well attended by members of the church and by other brethren from area congregations. It was times of excitement and anticipation because of the fellowship of brethren, and because we expected souls to be saved. Some have lamented those days and wish for them to return. I am convinced that they can return, but it all depends on us. How? We can be excited about the preaching of the gospel. I know that preachers...Continue reading "The Gospel Meeting"
The Value Of One
The story is told of a businessman who was overworked and took some time off. While on vacation a terrible storm came. The next day he walked on the beach and he noticed thousands of starfish that had been swept to the beach in the storm. A good ways off he saw a little boy tossing the starfish back into the water. He was amazed that the little boy was doing this, and walked over to him and said,Son, dont...Continue reading "The Value Of One"
