WHAT DOES VBS MEAN?
It means Vacation Bible School. VACATION because it will be the vacation time for children. Usually the biggest vacation problem for children is to know what to do with all the leisure time they suddenly possess. We will fill their evenings with profitable pleasure. BIBLE because the textbook will be the world's best loved and most interesting book, the "Best Seller." Too little time is spent during the year teaching the Bible to our boys and girls. Here is an...Continue reading "WHAT DOES VBS MEAN?"
THE IMPORTANCE OF BIBLE STUDY
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. NKJV In rereading Hosea we once again come across this statement that resounds through the ages and warns God’s people about the need for constant, continual study and application of God’s word. We are not sure why those of Hosea’s...Continue reading "THE IMPORTANCE OF BIBLE STUDY"
ERROR OR FACT
For fun, take a moment and take this quick test of Bible knowledge. The answers will be at the bottom, but please do not look at them until you have read this article in its entirety. The Sons of God and Daughters of Men
Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. And the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” There were giants on the earth...Continue reading "The Sons of God and Daughters of Men"
The God of the Old Testament is Also the God of the New!
Many today understand the difference between the Old Testament and the New, and that we are not under the provisions of the Old Testament law. We know that the Lord, while on earth, did what we couldn’t in living by the standards set by the law and thus fulfilled it. When He fulfilled the law, it was abrogated and taken away at the cross (Ephesians 2:15-17; Colossians 2:14; Hebrews, 2 Corinthians 3; Galatians and other passages). But many have...Continue reading "The God of the Old Testament is Also the God of the New!"
A Study of 2 Chronicles 30:13-20
INTRODUCTION The story of Hezekiah and his reign (circa 715-687 BC) is told in 2 Kings 18:1-20:21; 2 Chronicles 29:1-32:33 and Isaiah 36-39. His father was Ahaz, one of the wicked kings of Judah, and one of the timeless lessons of Hezekiah is that one may overcome their environment and rearing and still lead a godly life. Hezekiah is king at a critical juncture in Judah’s history. During his reign the Northern nation of Israel will fall to the Assyrians...Continue reading "A Study of 2 Chronicles 30:13-20"
Genesis — A Survey
The book of Genesis is the book of origins. It tells us of the beginning of the world and of man, the beginning of sin, and the beginning of God’s plan to bring about man’s redemption (Genesis 3:15; 12:1-3; 49:10). It has three significant ideas that goes along with these beginnings 1. Generation — Genesis 1 and 2; 2. De-Generation — Genesis 3-11; and 3. Re-Generation — Genesis 12-50 wherein God prepares for the coming of the Christ. The book...Continue reading "Genesis — A Survey"
Do You Know Where Your Sword Is?
Recently, I wandered on to the site of what must have been a horrific battlefield. From near the dawn of man's habitation of earth through the present, warfare has raged with little relief from its consequential atrocities and devastation. Battlefields, both ancient and modern, continue to yield artifacts carelessly discarded by fallen soldiers. Many battlefields have been memorialized to commemorate the principles for which armies fought and the soldiers who became casualties of those conflicts. I have visited several such...Continue reading "Do You Know Where Your Sword Is?"
