FISHING

Jesus called fishermen and made them "fishers of men." Why fishermen?

1. FISHING IS ACT OF FAITH! The fishermen cannot see the fish, but he keeps throwing his bait out there, believing that he will catch something

2. FISHING REQUIRES DILIGENCE. Fishermen get up early and stay out late. They don't stop when the weather changes. They think more of fishing that eating. They get blistered by the sun and eaten by mosquitoes, but keep on fishing!

3. FISHING REQUIRES INTELLIGENCE. True fishermen know where the fish are! They know the kind of bait to use, and when the best time is to fish.

4. FISHING REQUIRES WORK! You can't sit in your easy chair, watch television and catch fish. You have to get ready, change clothes, get tackle together, unload a boat and then take a chance on getting wet! It takes work to fish!

Jesus wants to make us fishers of men. I wonder what he means by that?
