GRADUATION AND CHANGE!

The wise man Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 3 that life is full of changes. As we grow older it is harder to embrace change; we like our comfort zone, and our nest, and do not want anything or anyone to affect it. Yet, we must realize that change will come, and we must be willing to adapt to the changes, or we will be stressed out over them.

As I say this, I am not saying that we must adapt to changes men want to make in the laws and commands of God. This we cannot do. But we must change with the seasons of life, and we must be willing to accept all the things that come our way that we cannot change. We can grow old and become grumpy, or we can change and enjoy the ride.

Six of our young people will be going through a change in their lives as they graduate from high school or college, and begin a new life. We need to constantly pray for them as they make decisions that will affect the rest of their lives. We must pray for their faithfulness to the Lord and for their commitment to God. The world will do all it can to destroy their faith in God and His word – we must encourage them to stay true to God and to themselves.

KRISTEN DAVIS will graduate from South Cobb High School; STEPHEN HURST will graduate from Pebblebrook High School; BRANDON TIDWELL will graduate from McEachern High School, and AMBER WILKE (Brandon’s girlfriend) will graduate from Sprayberry High School. Each one of them will now decide on college, military service, or a job and each will face many problems and trials over the years. We must encourage them in making the right decisions with a view to eternity.

ROMEKA MIDDLETON will graduate from Georgia State University with a degree in Psychology and Counseling, and hopes to be able to help those in women’s shelters to begin a new life. She is to be commended for her efforts to want to help others in their difficulties and trials. She will also be marrying Ishmael Gordon on June 28, and they will begin a new life together in Hawaii.

LESLEY BOBB has grown up here with us at South Cobb, and has graduated from high school and college. She will be leaving in August to attend Medical school in Nashville, TN. We commend her desire to become a doctor, and her desire to help those she can in alleviating suffering and helping others to get better.

Who knows what a difference in the world each one of these young people can make? No one, but God. But, as with all of us, God calls us to make a difference in the world. He calls us to honor him when no one else will. He calls us to help the world to see him. As Christians, we must do this daily, for the only hope the world has is found in Jesus. May we continue to encourage these young people to stay faithful; to encourage the young people coming up to seek the Lord and follow him daily; and encourage all who are older to steadfastness and greater love and service to our Lord who died for us all. May God bless us in our endeavors to serve him.
