Are You Too Busy?
The preaching of the gospel is never out of style, never out of culture, and never without some response. This last week we had the privilege of sitting at the feet of a man who loves to preach, who loves God with all of his heart, and who preached the gospel in a clear, distinctive way. Our hearts thrilled as we listened to the simple truths of the gospel presented in a kind and loving way. We are grateful for Frank and his preaching.
Some seemed to have been somewhat disappointed at our attendance, especially among members of the church here. All I can say is that if you missed out on this spiritual feast, you missed out on much. I know that some were unable to come due to health and other related problems, but if you could have come and didn’t — if you could have but didn’t, you were the loser. I do pray for the day wherein we once again attend gospel meetings as we did many years ago — where we show the world that we will support the gospel in this way — where we bring our friends, neighbors and relatives to hear the truth being preached. I pray for the day that we ALL would be fired up as the first century Christians about spreading the gospel to the world. I pray for the day that we stop being too busy for things of an eternal nature, but that we set our eyes on the prize of Jesus Christ and the eternal home and rest we have awaiting us in heaven.
The story is told of a Christian who was too busy — too busy to pray, too busy to study the Bible, too busy to attend the services of the church, too busy trying to make a good living here on this earth. He kept promising the preacher, the elders and others that one day he would slow down, and get his priorities right. But one day he died, and all of the things he had worked hard for on this earth were now useless to him. When he met God in judgment, God looked at him and said, “I’m sorry. I was just too busy to write your name in the book of life.” Are you too busy? Remember what is really important!
