Pray for Upcoming Events
There are some events that we need to keep in our minds, but, more importantly, in our prayers the next few weeks.
First, we need to work and pray for our gospel meeting beginning May 2 and going through May 6. Frank Chesser will be the speaker for this meeting. Frank worked with the Thomson Church of Christ for 15 years, and has then worked for the Dasher Church of Christ in Valdosta, GA, and the Jacksonville Church of Christ in Jacksonville, FL. He is now working at the Panama Street Church of Christ in Montgomery, AL. He has written two books — “The Spirit of Liberalism,” and “Portrait of God.” One of the things that mark his preaching is the fact that he quotes from memory copious amount of Scripture, and preaches without notes. He knows the Bible, and loves to preach. I know that he will preach the truth in love, and we will all want to hear him.
Secondly, we will have a VBS this year, and Jon Stroud needs help in teaching and in other areas as well. Let us do what we can to help him, in this effective way of teaching and preaching the Bible as well.
Thirdly, we need your prayers for camp. Each year we have about 120-140 children at Camp Inagehi, and every year it is a great week. I always talk negatively about it, but I do enjoy it. My problem is that I am very stressed about the possibility of children being hurt or injured at camp. It is an awesome responsibility! Pray for us!
On June 6 we will have another Bible School Attendance Drive, and want to encourage everyone to invite and encourage all of our members to be here for that. Church growth experts emphasize that some church growth happens from Bible school — we need to use this opportunity to teach others the gospel.
In May we will have a special lesson on singing and what God wants and desires in our singing. Truly, while we are known for being against instrumental music in the worship of God, we should be known for our singing as well. Also, on May 30, for the evening service, I will answer Bible questions that you may have. PLEASE put these in writing, and I will answer as many as I can in that time frame. Thanks.
