REMEMBER OUR SICK

AMBER BUICE has a growth on the outside of her eardrum.  Doctors will operate on her January 13,2010 at Scottish Rite and see if they can find out what is going on with her ears. She was also taken back to Egleston Hospital with a virus she picked up at the hospital. Tiffany is going to immunologists to see if they can find the reason why she is "non resistant" to all the viruses going around.

SHEILA BUICE has been diagnosed with Graves disease. She will have to have her thyroid removed and take medicine for the rest of her life.

JOHNNY COALSON, former member here at South Cobb, had skin cancer removed from his nose this last week, and is recuperating at home.

BRENDA COX is in Piedmont Hospital (TU19) after had a kidney transplant last Monday.  She was supposed to get out of the hospital Friday.

GAIL HOLBROOK is in Kennestone Hospital, (Blue 605) having tests run.  Doctors think she is having problems with her diabetes.  Also her white blood cell count is elevated, suggesting an infection somewhere!

LARRY AND JUDY KING has been sick with bronchitis.

AMANDA KNIGHTEN's baby boy has RSV.

AMY NICHOLS, Clara McCroy's granddaughter, has been in the hospital this year with Krohn's disease.  She had further surgery this week to remove more of her stomach.  She is in ICU and very sick.

Robert Martin, a missionary whom we have supported for many years, was able to be with last Sunday night and give a report on the work he continues to do after 36 years as a missionary.  We have committed to him to continue our support to him at the same amount for the next two years; however, he does need a one time contribution for Special Projects such as Travel funds, printing courses for the Pacific Island Bible College, printing of bulk tracts, songbooks and personal work, and conducting campaigns.  He has asked South Cobb for a one time contribution of $600.00

YOU GAVE OVER $850.00 toward this contribution and are to be commended.

Robert has sent a letter expressing his appreciation for our support.  He said "You all have a 'special place' in our heart.  Because of the Lord and you we are making great progress in "turning the Pacific Islands upside down for the Lord Jesus Christ'; there is much more to do for the Lord. . . . Pray for us as we continue to do all we can for the cause of Christ in the Pacific Islands."

LORD, MAKE ME A

POTATO.

The story is told of a couple living in a foreign country who lost a six month old baby.  A native came by one day to comfort them and left them this proverb for them to think on.

"A tragedy like this is similar to being plunged into boiling water, " he explained.  "If you are an egg, your affliction will make you hard boiled and unresponsive.  If you are a potato, you will emerge soft and pliable, resilient and adaptable."  It may sound rather odd, but perhaps we should pray, "O Lord, make me a potato."

· We don't have much right to complain about mistakes made by people who are doing the work we should be doing."

· Life is like a cafeteria:  One goes through choosing as he goes, but what he chooses must be paid for at the end of the line.  CHOOSE WISELY, CHOOSE CAREFULLY, CHOOSE PRAYERFULLY:  Remember NO REFUNDS, NO EXHANGES!

IF GOD SHOULD GO ON STRIKE!

How good it is that God above has never gone on strike

Because he was not treated fair in things he didn't like.

If only once he'd given up and said, "That's it, I'm through,"

"I've had enough of you on earth, so this is what I'll do."

"I'll give my orders to the sun, cut off the heat supply,

And to the moon give no more light and run the oceans dry.

Then just to make things really tough and put the pressure on

Turn off the vital oxygen till every breath is gone."

You know he would be justified, if fairness were the game

For no one has been more abused or met with more disdain.

Than God, and yet he carries on, supplying you and me

With all the favors of his grace, and everything for free.

Men say they want a better deal, and so on strike they go,

But what a deal we've given to God to whom all things we owe.

We don't care who we hurt to gain the things we like

But what a mess we'd all be in if God should go on strike.

G.C Brewer told this story:

A community in Kentucky decided to build a building for community religious and social use.  Several churches in the community led in the effort.  The church of Christ in that community did not, and decided not to cooperate.

When the building was completed, the people who built it naturally did not want it to be used by those who had declined to have any part in providing it.  They were in the process of putting a clause in the deed that allowed anyone in the community to use the building 'except Campbellites.'

A knowledgeable man among them said,, "If you want to keep those folks out of this facility, that won't do.  I have heard some of them say they aren't Campbellites, and they do a pretty good job of proving it."

After considerable discussion, they finally wrote, "This building may be used by anyone in the community except Christians."

                   HMMMMMMMMM!
