IN NEED OF PRAYER
•CHUCK ARNOLD, coworker of Buddy Maupin, is suffering from appendix cancer.
•JANE BAXTER, Charles Shipp’s sister, is now at home in hospice care; she is so weak that doctors expect her to live only another week.
•AVIS BERRY, great grandmother of Celeste Peters, is in hospice and not expected to live much longer.
•GRAY BURCH, Willa Freeman’s father, has problems with his gallbladder, but doctors have ruled out surgery.
•ALECIA DAVIS, daughter of Marvalene Philpott, has been admitted to the Baptist Health Center in Columbia, S.C. She is not doing well at this time, and is close to death.
•FRANK ESTES, husband of Peggy Estes, has neurological problems and a pinched nerve that is affecting his walking. He may need surgery, but is now undergoing therapy.
•DOROTHY FOWLER, Susan Jackson’s cousin, is now in hospice. Doctors have told her that they have done all they can to defeat the cancer.
•EDDIE GOUGH, son of Francis Gough, has been diagnosed with cancer. Doctors are running tests.
•KATHERINE HESTER, a family friend of the Maupin's, is waiting on a liver transplant.
•GAIL HOLBROOK continues her struggles with rheumatoid arthritis. This condition is affecting her organs, and is keeping her sick with bronchitis and causing other problems. 
•DAVID LUTZ, brother of Jackie Stubblefield, has been diagnosed with cancer in his bones, lungs, lymph nodes and throughout his body.
•Marvalene Philpott passed away last week in South Carolina, and her funeral was held yesterday. Please remember her family as they mourn her death.
•THELMA PIRTLE is scheduled to undergo reconstructive hip surgery tomorrow. She needs encouragement and would appreciate cards, calls and visits.
•MARY ROSS, cousin of Buddy Maupin, is suffering from lung cancer.
•PAT SCHINALL, friend of Margie Gattis, is now out of the hospital awaiting a liver transplant.
•BETTY SINGLETON and SHERON KEITH are mourning the loss of their mother who passed away recently.
•ABBY SMITH, the 3-year-old daughter of friends of Michael and Nancy Walker, has a brain tumor and another tumor on her spine that is inoperable.
•MIKE AND BETH STIGER, brother and sister-in-law of Susan Stroud, had twins last month. EMILY ELIZABETH and CATHERINE CLARE were born prematurely. Catherine had a major heart defect and underwent surgery this past week to repair the heart. Doctors estimate she will need two more months in the hospital before they can consider releasing her. Her sister Emily is now at home with her parents.
•JEAN STUBBLEFIELD, sister-in-law of Jackie Stubblefield and Larry and Jennie Stubblefield’s aunt, needs a kidney transplant soon in order to survive.
•IVADELL TAYLOR is now back at home after a brief stay at Piedmont Hospital after having having a stroke in her brain stem.
•GAIL WALDEN, the cousin of Glenda Shipp, is now back at home after having being hospitalized Christmas Eve for vomiting blood.
•SOPHIE WALKER underwent brain decompression surgery on December 6. She is now ar home and doing well. Michael and Nancy need the support and prayers of the congregation as they continue to care for her.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
•The new Sunday morning Bible school material has arrived. Bible school teachers should pick up their materials in the teacher workroom.
•Everyone is encouraged to attend “Sunday Night for the Savior.” This was formerly “Monday Night for the Master,” and in an effort to get more people involved, is now held at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Sunday nights of the month. Come and help us as we visit and strive to do the work of the Lord.
•The Ladies’ Morning Bible Class meets on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. All ladies are invited to participate.
•A weight loss support group meets Tuesday at the building at 9:45 a.m. in the ladies’ Bible classroom. If you are interested, please come and see how everyone encourages one another.
•Mike and Carmen McFarland request the pleasure of your company at a dessert reception celebrating the marriage of their daughter APRIL LEE to MARK ESTES on Sunday, January 13 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Newnan Church of Christ building, 2675 East Highway 34, Newnan, Ga. Mark and April will be getting married in a private ceremony with their families in late December.

AREA EVENTS
•Jan. 26 — “Brainamania”
West Cobb Christian Academy is sponsoring a team trivia night as a school fundraiser on Saturday, January 26, at the Macland Road Church of Christ building. Players may participate for $10 which includes dinner (from 5–6 p.m.). The tournament begins at 6 p.m. Visit westcobbchristian.org for more information.
•Feb. 16 — Ladies Day
The Central Church of Christ in Covington will host the event. The theme is “Love!”

YOUTH
•Feb. 8 — Youth Night @ The Hawks
If you would like to attend a Hawks game with youth from all over the Atlanta area, please let Jonathan Stroud know if you will attend today. The cost is $10 to reserve your ticket.
•Feb. 22–24 — Challenge Youth Conference
Please mark you calendars to attend CYC in Gatlinburg, Tenn. The theme will be “Such a Time as This.” South Cobb will be accompanying the Macland Rd. and Villa Rica congregations’ youth groups and sharing a spacious cabin. The cost will be $80 and must be turned in to Jonathan Stroud by today.
