PRAYER LIST
•RENEE DAVIS, a member of the church who lives in Nevada, will be relocating her family into the Atlanta area in a few weeks and requests the prayers of the South Cobb congregation.
•NELL HICKS has been moved from Cobb Hospital to the Alzheimer’s unit of Brian Care Center on Powder Springs Road. She will be in rehab as well.
•PAT JOHNSON, Eric Johnson’s stepmother, is very sick.
•TAYLOR LEBLANC, daughter of Chris Hughes’ boss, Eddie LeBlanc, was involved in a boating accident last week in Birmingham, Ala. She had brain surgery and is in stable condition.
•MARVELENE PHILPOT fell and dislocated her shoulder. She is now in Brian Care Center on Anderson Mill Rd., Rm. 203.
•RICK SAILORS, a friend of the Finchers, has been diagnosed with colon cancer.
•MELVIN THOMPSON, brother of Ed Thompson, is now at home recovering from a stroke.
•DELMA TIDWELL, Tommy Tidwell’s father, had eye surgery last week and continues to have circulation problems in his feet due to diabetes.
•RHONDA TILLER, a friend of Dee McGinnis, has been diagnosed with melanoma.
•SHERILL WILSON, a former member at the Liberty Hill congregation, suffered a stroke and is not doing well.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
•Monday Night for the Master began this week. Please use this opportunity to rededicate yourself to service for the Lord. There is plenty of work for everyone! There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer for those willing to help with childcare.
•Everyone is invited to attend a “Basic Principles” Bible class on Sunday mornings. Richard Holbrook is teaching the class, and it meets next door to the building in the church offices.
•The Ladies Morning Bible Class is now meeting weekly on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. in the offices next door to the building.
•Macland Road Church of Christ has announced plans to start the West Cobb Christian Academy (K–8). Macland Road will host a fundraising event for the WCCA on Sept. 24 at 10 a.m.–12 p.m. Those who attend will be informed about the school and invited to help support the school financially. Brunch will be provided, but please RSVP.
•The Cobb County Senior Services Department is in need of volunteer drivers for the “Meals on Wheels” program. If you can help, please call Terri McClellen at (770) 528-5381.
•Please be sure to pick up the directory updates from the tract rack as you enter the building. If you know of any other updates or need a new picture taken, please let Jonathan Stroud know as soon as possible.
•Sunday door greeters are needed for the rest 2005 and 2006. Please sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board.
•When planning an event for the congregation, please record it on the planning calendar in the foyer. If your event conflicts with another event, please see Larry Stubblefield.
BENEVOLENCE
•The church of Christ disaster relief effort is accepting monetary gifts in order to continue providing more supplies. For more information, please call 615-833-0888.
•South Cobb sent the remaining food boxes left over from the local disaster relief, along with the bagged clothes and the rest of the cleaning supplies to Gulfport, Miss. The rest of the beds will be distributed soon. It is time to begin bringing goods for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.
YOUTH
•Sept. 23–24 — Villa Rica Church of Christ Youth Rally
The theme is “One.” Luke Suggs, Keith Olbricht, Jake Campbell and Patrick Gray will speak.
•Nov. 11–12 — Lithia Springs Church of Christ Youth Lectureship
More information will be available soon.
•Dec. 27–30 — Exposure 2005
The theme is “The Reality Show” and will held at the Huntsville Hilton. The cost is $80.
SOUTH COBB EVENTS
•Sept. 22–Oct. 2 — North Georgia State Fair
Volunteers are needed to staff the South Cobb booth during the next two weeks. Please sign up on the bulletin board.
•Sept. 28 — Ladies’ Luncheon
The luncheon will be held in honor of Mary White at Golden Corral on Austell Rd. at 12:30 p.m. For more information, see Joan Carson or Marice Allen.
•Oct. 15 — Harvest Dinner
The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. Everyone is asked to serve their dish in a skillet or dutch oven and bring antique tools or kitchen items for display.
AREA EVENTS
•Sept. 21–22 — Lithia Springs Church of Christ Gospel Meeting
Michael Shepherd will be speak.
•Sept. 24 — Cartersville Church of Christ Ladies’ Day
The ladies’ day will be held from 9–12:30 p.m. and breakfast and lunch will be provided. Hannah Rowland, Molly Chatman and Linda Gayton will speak.
•Sept. 26–Oct. 24 — Grief Seminar at Central Church of Christ
“Surviving Sorrow: How to Triumph Through Tears” will be held weekly on Monday nights from 7–9 p.m. Robert W. Dean is the grief facilitator. Call 770-435-9038 for more information.
•Sept. 29 — Georgia Agape’s Celebration Banquet
Jody Vickery from the Campus Church of Christ will be the keynote speaker. The banquet will be held at the Westin-Atlanta North Hotel at Perimeter at 7 p.m. The cost is $27.50 per person (Agape’s cost). To order tickets, call 770-452-9995.
•Oct. 1 — Bowden Church of Christ Ladies’ Day
The theme is “...far above rubies.” Kathy Skinner from Bowden Ga. and Wanda Nelson from Cedartown, Ga. will speak. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and lunch will be provided.
•Oct. 7–8 — Hillcrest Church of Christ Ladies Inspiration Day
The theme is “Spiritual Rejuvenation”: The Power of Good Spiritual Health, Psalms 51:10–12.
•Oct. 7–9 — Men’s Leadership Training Seminar
Macland Rd. Church of Christ is hosting the seminar for elders, deacons, ministers and men desiring to become leaders. Tom Holland and William Woodson will conduct the seminar. More information including the sign-up list is on the bulletin board in the foyer.
